ATLANTA, Ga. – The Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) is pleased to announce the addition of Bellarmine University to its membership in Men’s and Women's Swimming and Diving. The Knights will compete at the 2021 CCSA Championships February 17-20 in Knoxville, Tenn.
"In Bellarmine University, we have added a great fit for the Conference," said Jerome Rodgers, Commissioner of the CCSA. "The fact that they offer both men's and women's swimming will add to the overall competitive nature of our championships."
Bellarmine becomes the eighth member to join the CCSA on the Men’s Swimming and Diving side. They join current members FAU, Gardner-Webb, Howard, Incarnate Word, Mount St. Mary’s, NJIT, and Old Dominion. The Knights become the 10th institution to compete on the women's side, joining fellow ASUN members FGCU, Liberty and North Florida.
“We’re extremely grateful and thrilled that our swimming programs have been welcomed into the CCSA," said Scott Wiegandt, Bellarmine's Director of Athletics. "We’re joining other ASUN swimming and diving programs in the CCSA which also makes the student-athlete its top priority. The CCSA is the perfect home for our swimmers as we make the transition to the Division I level.”
The Bellarmine Men’s and Women's Swimming programs begin their eighth season under head coach John Brucato, the lone coach in program history.
The CCSA enters its 12th season of competition as the conference was founded by the ASUN, Big South, Mid-Eastern Athletic (MEAC), and the Southern Conferences in 2008 to provide a championship opportunity for swimming and diving students at their member institutions. The 2020 CCSA Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the Allan Jones Aquatic Center from February 19-22.
