Charlotte, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Florida Gulf Coast freshman Rebecca Moynihan (Palmerston North, New Zealand) has been named the CCSA Women's Swimmer of the Week, while fellow Florida Gulf Coast freshman Melissa Novak (Frederick, Md.) has been named CCSA Women's Diver of the Week for meets contested Oct. 30-Nov. 5, the CCSA announced Tuesday.
Moynihan won the 100 free against No. 20 Florida with a personal-best and top CCSA time of 51.14. She led off the 400 Freestyle Relay, which finished in second, with a 51.29. She also placed third with a career-best of 23.74 in the 50-yard free. Moynihan then had a split of 23.17 in the freestyle leg of the third place B 200 Medley Relay, which was the second-fastest split of the meet.
Novak won the 1-meter board in FGCU's dual meet with Florida on Saturday, posting a 290.55 score -- an NCAA Zone Qualifying performance and six points shy of the FGCU program record. Her score was nearly 45 points better than the second-place finisher. In the 3-meter, Novak finished in third place with 228.60 points. In total, she secured 12 points for FGCU.
Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: Michelle Case (Campbell), KaSandra Kaplan (Howard), Kara Neel (Incarnate Word), Sydney Groth (North Florida) and Skylar Rogan (UNC Asheville).
Also nominated for Diver of the Week: Sara Rogers (Georgia Southern), Christian Nickolas (Howard) and Mallory Draper (Incarnate Word).
