CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Howard sophomore Sidrell Williams (Kingston, Jamaica) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week, and NJIT sophomore Avery Bechtel (Gardners, Pa.) has been named the Men's Diver of the week for meets contested Nov. 6-12, the CCSA announced Tuesday.
Assisting Howard to its best start in over a decade at 6-1, Williams placed first in five of the six events he competed in last weekend. His contributions in the 200 Medley relay (23.39 Fly) and 200 Free relay (21.49) led to victories combined with a winning time of 46.43 for a win in the 100 Free. On Saturday, Williams won the 50 Free in at 21.66 seconds and the 100 Free with a time of 46.68.
In a meet last weekend against Lehigh, Bechtel broke the NJIT record in the 3-meter dive with his 193.94 points, which was good for second place. The sophomore also posted a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 201.44.
