CCSA Announces Men's Swimmer and Diver of the Week - Oct. 31

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Florida Atlantic freshman Will Smith (St. Petersburg, Fla.) has been named the CCSA Men's Swimmer of the Week. Also, Incarnate Word freshman Jason Checchin (San Antonio, Texas) has been named the Men's Diver of the week for meets contested Oct. 23-29, the CCSA announced Tuesday.

In only his second collegiate swimming meet, Smith captured first place in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:39.91, and took third in the 500-yard freestyle clocking in at 4:43.82. Those efforts gave him top-three finishes in the only events he swam.

Checchin placed third in the 1-meter dive at the Trinity dual meet with 262.10 points. His finish helped lead Incarnate to the victory.

 

Also nominated for Swimmer of the Week: Chase Mattingly (Gardner-Webb) and Clayton (Jon) Taylor (Incarnate Word).
