Chelsea Ross - Georgia State
LakePoint, Ga. – Georgia State's No. 1 pair of Delaney Rohan and Chelsea Ross posted an impressive mark at last weekend's Gamecock Grand Slam as the duo went 3-1, including victories against two top-10 opponents to claim this week's Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Beach Volleyball Pair of the Week honors, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Playing in the No. 1 flight for the Panthers, Rohan and Ross defeated the top pairs from No. 4 Florida State, No. 9 South Carolina and No. 13 Stetson, only falling to the defending national champions Southern California. The pair opened the weekend with a straight-set victory against Stetson, 21-19 and 21-15. They followed that victory with another impressive straight-set win against the top pair from CCSA rival Florida State. Rohan and Ross won 21-15, 21-13 in their second match to end the first day 2-0.
After falling in the morning session against USC, the Panther pair bounced back to defeat the host South Carolina squad by the score of 21-15, 26-24, giving them three straight-set wins in the top flight this past weekend. The pair has been playing in the top flight for Georgia State all season long and improved their record to 13-6 this season. Rohan now boasts 75 career victories at Georgia State, three shy of the program record.
Georgia State is back in the sand this weekend when they host the GSU Diggin Duals. CCSA members LSU and UAB will come to Atlanta, while the Panthers will also face Lincoln Memorial and Jacksonville State.
