CCSA HAS FIVE SWIMMERS IN NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (TheCCSA.com) – Florida Gulf Coast’s Fanny Teijonsalo (Espoo, Finland), Katie Latham (Deal, Kent, United Kingdom) and Elise Haan (Naples, Fla.) will compete in the NCAA Women’s Swimming Championships, while Gardner-Webb’s Nathan Lile (Waynesville, N.C.) and Old Dominion’s Reed Matthews (Denver, Colo.) will enter on the men’s side.

The NCAA swimming and diving championships will be contested at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga. The women’s championship will take place March 16-19, while the men’s will be held March 23-26. Coverage of the NCAA championships will be available on AtlantaSwimming.com/Webcast and WatchESPN.com. Teijonsalo, who owns the CCSA all-time record in the 200 IM (1:58.29), will compete in the 200 IM, 100 Fly and the 100 Free. Latham, a member of the CCSA’s record 400 Medley Relay team that finished in 3:33.92 this year, will swim in the 50 Free, 100 Back and 100 Free. Haan, who set all-time records in the 200 Free (1:46.20) and 100 Back (51.65) at this year’s CCSA Championships, will compete in the 200 Free, 100 Back and 200 Back. The FGCU women’s team finished 26th in last year’s NCAA Championships.

Lile will race in the men’s 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Fly after an impressive senior campaign in which he shattered all-time records in the 100 Fly (46.52), 100 Free (43.05) and the 50 Free (19.54) at the 2016 CCSA Championships. Matthews set the all-time record in the 200 Fly (1:43.04) at this year’s CCSA Championships and will compete in the 200 IM, 100 Fly, and the 200 Fly.
